What is feathering...and why?"
"...to feather properly drop your wrists after the blades are out of the water, rotating the handles so that the flat backs of the looms drop into the flat bottoms of the oarlocks. This will rotate the blade so that the spoons face up with the forward edges slightly higher than the aft edges. This feathered position cuts down wind resistance and allows the blade to skim the surface of the water without digging in or stopping the boat."
