Important - Cohasset Maritime Institute’s Community Cooperation Policy
(read/print full policy...)

Cohasset Maritime Institute is located in town-owned buildings at the harbor end of Parker Avenue, a quiet, narrow street with homes situated close to the road. There are many small children who play in the neighborhood, often riding bikes or strolling down to Mariner’s Park. This narrow lane is hardly an avenue and provides access to the Town’s only boat ramp. Boats and trailers of all shapes and sizes use the street to get to the Town ramp and to Cohasset Harbor Marina, a private facility with dozens of boats docked in its slips. This street is a favorite walking route for many townspeople because of its access to the lovely wooden walkway which connects through to the Sailing Club on Lighthouse Lane. Needless to say, with so many cars and pedestrians sharing the street, some Parker Avenue residents are concerned for public safety. Over the years some residents lodged objections to our programs, alleging that rowers and parents of rowers were speeding up and down the street. In order to prevent any misunderstandings or bad feelings with our neighbors, the CMI Board of Directors requests that our rowers drive very slowly on Parker Avenue.
PARKING AND DROP OFFS:
All youth rowers will be dropped off in the circle next to the Cohasset Sailing Club parking lot. Everyone must come to the CMI Boathouse by way of the short wooden walkway from the circle. Cars should park in the back lot of Bancroft Hall and walk down respectfully through the sloped gardens and over the wooden walkway to the boat house. Parking in the CMI lot is by Cohasset sticker only and the police ticket frequently during the boating season.
By taking these few simple steps we hope to maintain the wonderful benefit of the use of the Town’s property for our great programs. Thank you.

Get out on the water!
